As of February 2025, it is widely recognized that we have led the global karate community in competitive excellence for years.
I am pleased to announce that Renshi David Bavaresco is now our Director of Competition, alongside his wife, Paoula Bavaresco, who will serve as Head of the Competitive Team. Both have consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in tournaments.
Traditionally, under Grandmaster DeBuc, our organization accepted students by referral and did not seek public recognition for its achievements. However, as of December 2024, upon becoming CEO of the Double Dragon Institute, I have modernized this approach.

It is time to extend our expertise to the public. I am committed, with Grandmaster’s approval, to expanding access to our elite karate training. To support this vision, we are relocating our headquarters to Plantation, Florida, where we will open a dojo welcoming students of all ages.

Dr. DeBuc holds an honorary black belt and is a dedicated student of Double Dragon Goju-Ryu.
She has developed groundbreaking solutions in diagnostics and disease prevention across ophthalmology, neurology, and primary care and is a pioneer in AI-driven technologies.

Hanshi DeBuc has personally trained over 45 Black Belts of all ranks, from first Dan to ninth Dan, in the last 29 years.

Hanshi Yarid has served as an officer in several branches of the US armed forces and Is still in the Reserves at times on Active Service with the Navy, He also runs his Private Medical Practice, in addition to his duties on the board of Directors of the Double Dragon Institute.
Dr. Yarid is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School. He received his residency training at the Washington Hospital in Washington

He is the Personal Bodyguard to Grandmaster DeBuc and the entire Double Dragon Institute.
As a young man, he was an extremely talented student of Braking Techniques and power delivery.
He graduated top of his class and is a Manager of a Programming firm, he is multitalented and I know him to have skills
in playing, writing, recording, and composing music.

World Wide Karate Breaking News from our Leadership
Headquarters Relocation & Announcement
We are excited to announce the relocation of our Headquarters Dojo from Pembroke Pines, Florida, to Plantation, Florida.
For years, the Double Dragon Institute has competed anonymously with the WKC & WKF, choosing not to seek recognition. However, we are now proud to reveal that Renshi David Bavaresco is one of our students. His numerous achievements include:
- WKC National, Pan American, & World Champion
- WKF US Open Karate Champion
His additional titles and accomplishments have remained confidential at the request of Renshi Bavaresco and Grandmaster DeBuc. Furthermore, Renshi Bavaresco has trained under an overseas instructor who played a significant role in his development—this information may be disclosed in the future with their approval.
This announcement was officially made at the Tiger and Crane Organization’s Black Belt Only meeting in February 2025, before our esteemed Grandmasters and over fifty Black Belts.
As a proud partnering member of the World Tiger and Crane Organization, Double Dragon Goju-Ryu Karate-Do continues to uphold the highest standards in martial arts excellence.
