Hanshi DeBuc is a highly esteemed grandmaster and the visionary Founder of Double Dragon Goju-Ryu Karate-do, an internationally recognized martial arts institution dedicated to the highest standards of discipline, technique, and philosophy. With an illustrious career spanning nearly five decades, he has personally trained and mentored over 45 Black Belts, from Shodan (1st Dan) to Kudan (9th Dan), producing elite martial artists who continue to uphold the traditions of Goju-Ryu worldwide.
In 1996, he officially established the Double Dragon Institute, alongside Hanshi Yarid, following decades of rigorous training and instruction since 1974. Under his leadership, the institute has grown into a globally respected organization, operating premier schools across the United States, including Boston, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Washington, D.C., Vienna (VA), Florida, and Puerto Rico. The institute has also extended its reach internationally, with certified Black Belt instructors continuing the legacy as far as Alaska. For over 29 years, the Double Dragon Institute has maintained its status as a registered and highly esteemed organization, recognized by Dun & Bradstreet, the world’s foremost business rating authority.
Beyond his unparalleled expertise in martial arts, Hanshi DeBuc is also an accomplished Airline Captain, with over 20,000 flight hours as a Pilot in Command (PIC). His ability to maintain precision, discipline, and leadership at the highest levels—both in the dojo and in the cockpit—solidifies his reputation as a master of both martial and technical excellence.
